Notes:

  • Suárez fell three laps behind the leader before returning to the lead lap.
  • The race was halted by heavy afternoon rain and lightning at the 219-lap mark, prompting a red flag that lasted two hours and 14 minutes. When the race resumed in the evening hours the drivers were on rain tires.
  • Suárez fell three laps behind the leaders before his car came to life on the wet tires. He made up all three lost laps, but the race ended before he could race with the lead lap cars.
  • Rain canceled qualifying on Saturday, restricting the teams to a five-minute practice session and forcing NASCAR to set the starting lineup based on the rule book.
  • Suárez started 11th when NASCAR started the race 30 minutes early Sunday because of impending weather.
  • In the caution-free first stage, Suárez reported severe bouncing issues in his car and fell to 31st.
  • Suárez and his team continued to work on their car’s handling ending the second stage in 34th.
  • The Cup Series returns to action on Sunday at Nashville Superspeedway.

Daniel Suárez, driver of the No. 99 Choice Hotels Chevrolet Camaro for Trackhouse Racing:

“We kept at it today and didn’t give up. Our car bounced from the start and we spent the race working on it. On the wet tires we were pretty good. Another 40 laps and I think we could have been in the top -10. We will be better in Nashville next week.”
