Notes:

  • Trackhouse Racing driver Daniel Suárez finished 31st in Saturday night’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway.
  • It wasn’t pretty for either Trackhouse driver, but Suárez earned his way into the next round of the 2024 playoffs.
  • Suárez started 35th and struggled early finishing the first two stages in 30th and 29th, spending most of the race two laps behind the leader.
  • The points earned in the first three playoff races (Round of 16) were enough for Suárez (+11 points) to advance to the next round (Round of 12.) Four of the 16 drivers (Harrison Burton, Brad Keselowski, Ty Gibbs and Martin Truex Jr.) were eliminated from playoff contention Saturday.
  • The Round of 12 begins Sunday at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas and includes races at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway on Oct. 6 and the Charlotte Roval on Oct. 13.
  • Suárez begins the Round of 12 in 10th place with 3,006 points – six points below the cutoff for the top-eight transfer positions.
  • After the three-race Round of 12 and the three-race Round of 8, the four remaining drivers will compete in a winner-take-all title race at Phoenix Raceway on Nov. 10.

Daniel Suárez, driver of the No. 99 Freeway Insurance Chevrolet Camaro for Trackhouse Racing:

“It feels good [to advance]. It wasn’t pretty, but we knew since practice yesterday that the car wasn’t competitive. It just didn’t have a lot of speed. Luckily, our team did a great job in Atlanta and Watkins Glen, and we were able to build a points cushion. It wasn’t a lot of fun, but it’s good to make it through.

I think we’re going to be pretty good [in the next round]. I’m really excited for Kansas. I think we can competitive there. A superspeedway, as we all know, anything can happen. And a road course in there, always puts a smile on my face.”
