Races July 5, 2021 Mechanical Issues in Opening Laps Ruin Race Date: July 4th, 2021 Event: Jockey Made in America 250 Presented by Kwik Trip (Round 20 of 36) Series: NASCAR Cup Series Location: Road America (4.05-mile road course) Format: 62 laps, broken into three stages (14 laps/15 laps/33 laps) Start/Finish: 11th / 36th (running, completed 53 of 62 laps) Point Standing: 22nd with 383 points Notes: Daniel Suárez finished 36th in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. The finish moved Suárez to 22nd in the season standings after 20 races. Suárez qualified 11th Sunday morning before the race. Suárez took the green flag and raced in the top 10, but on lap 3 he stopped on the track with transmission issues. The No. 99 replaced the transmission and returned him to the track about 10 laps behind the leader. Suárez raced as fast as the leaders when he returned and climbed from 40th to 36th before the checkered flag. Sunday stopped a streak of five consecutive top-15 finishes for the Trackhouse Racing team. The Cup Series returns to action Sunday, July 11 at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia.
