Notes:

  • Trackhouse Racing driver Daniel Suárez finished second in Sunday’s 400-mile race at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Ga.
  • Suárez and Joey Logano restarted alongside each other in overtime, each getting a push from their teammates with Ross Chastain pushing Suárez. Entering Turn 3 on the final lap, an errant shove from Chase Elliott put Chastain into the wall. The field stacked up behind, resulting in a multicar crash that involved playoff drivers Harrison Burton and Denny Hamlin.
  • The caution immediately ended the race with Logano in first, and Suárez second after wall contact.
  • Both Trackhouse Chevrolets ran most of the race at the front of the field with Suárez leading twice for nine laps.
  • Suárez’s day was nearly flawless until he suffered right front damage during a pit stop. He fell to 34th with 80 laps remaining but charged back to seventh after dodging several cars in an accident with 55 laps to go.
  • Suárez started 30th and charged toward the front when the green flag fell finishing the first stage in 15th.
  • Both Trackhouse Racing Chevys continued to show fast cars climbing into the top five in the second stage with Suárez finishing fourth.

Daniel Suárez, driver of the No. 99 Quaker State Chevrolet Camaro for Trackhouse Racing:

“I’m definitely not satisfied. I am happy with [the result], but not satisfied. I lost my pusher, my teammate. He was doing a great job, and I felt like we were going to have a great shot at it. Ross was doing an amazing job of pushing, and I don’t know if he got a flat tire or something, but once I lost him, I knew it was going to be tough. But, that is part of racing, right?

I can’t thank everyone enough at Trackhouse Racing, all the men and women. I have to give a shout out here to the racetrack and Quaker State for helping me design this amazing race car. It was nice to run strong today, but when you are that close and obviously we had a good shot, it’s never too fun.”
