Notes:

  • Trackhouse Racing’s Daniel Suárez finished 33rd in Sunday’s 500-lap NASCAR Cup Series race at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway in a race that saw only three cautions.
  • Suárez fell down a lap in each of the first two stages as he struggled with grip and speed. With only three cautions, he could never return to the lead lap.
  • Suárez started 23rd in the first stage, which ran without a caution and saw the leader set a blistering pace, lapping all but 23 cars. Suárez finished the stage 31st.
  • The race saw its first non-stage break caution on lap 179 in Stage 2 when Shane Van Gisbergen brought out the yellow flag. Suárez finished 33rd after falling down a second lap.
  • The NASCAR Cup Series returns to action on Sunday, April 27, at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.

“Our balance wasn’t horrible today; we just didn’t have speed. The leaders looked like they had new tires and I had old tires. At times, it felt like I had basketballs for tires. We will keep working on it and try to learn where we can get better.”
