Suárez struggled during the weekend but improved throughout the race, climbing as high as ninth in the final stage before fading tires in the final laps dropped him to 25th. The first stage saw Suárez finish 28th. Shane Van Gisbergen brought out the caution with wall contact on lap 170. The caution was good fortune for Suárez, who hadn’t pitted. Suárez finished the stage in 14th The NASCAR Cup Series returns to action on Sunday at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International.
