  • There were only 49 laps logged in the third of the four-stage race when weather stopped the action.
  • Unfortunately for Suárez, he received a pit lane equipment interference penalty on lap 234, dropped to 32nd, and was working his way back through the field when weather stopped the action.
  • Sunday’s 600-mile race is the longest of the season and includes four stages instead of the standard three stages.
  • Suárez started 14th and finished the first stage in 12th.
  • Suárez 14th finished in the second stage.
  • As part of NASCAR Salutes Together with Coca-Cola, NASCAR and Coca-Cola hosted Gold Star Families during race weekend. Gold Star Families are those who have lost an immediate family member due to active-duty military service. As part of the ceremony, each NASCAR Cup Series car featured the name of a fallen service member on the windshield.
  • Suárez’s No. 99 carried the name of First Lt. Laura Piper of Venice, Florida.
  • The Cup Series returns to action on Sunday at Worldwide Technology Raceway near St. Louis.

Daniel Suárez, driver of the No. 99 Freeway Insurance Chevrolet Camaro for Trackhouse Racing:

“I’m disappointed because I thought we were going to get back to racing. Our car was very competitive tonight. We had a penalty and had to go to the back of the field, but know we were going to regain a lot of spots. I’m like the fans, I wish we could have continued.”
