Speedway (.526-mile oval) Format: 500 laps, broken into three stages (130 laps/130 laps/240 laps) Start/Finish: 7th / 12th (running, completed 500 of 500 laps) Point Standing: 9th Notes: Trackhouse Racing driver Daniel Suárez finished 12th in Sunday’s 500-lap NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. Suárez was eliminated from the playoffs before the Round of 8, but moved to ninth in points with Sunday’s performance. Both he and Ross Chastain are guaranteed to score their best ever career points finishes in 2022. Suárez started seventh Sunday on the flat half-mile track at Martinsville. He finished 10th in each of the first two stages that ran caution free. Suárez climbed as high as sixth and looked to be in contention for the victory but fell back after a bad pit stop with 100 laps to go. Championship weekend in Phoenix begins Friday with one hour of practice, followed by qualifying Saturday and the race on Sunday.
