Date: July 30th, 2022 Event: Verizon 200 at the Brickyard (Round 22 of 36) Series: NASCAR Cup Series Location: Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course (2.439-mile road course) Format: 82 laps, broken into three stages (15 laps/20 laps/47 laps) Start/Finish: 11th / 28th (completed 82 of 82 laps) Point Standing: 13th with 535 points Notes: Trackhouse Racing driver Daniel Suárez finished 28th in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Trackhouse Chevrolets raced as high as second and third during the final two laps after a chaotic overtime restart. Suárez jumped from fifth to third in the final restart. It looked like the Trackhouse cars could pick up a fourth victory of the season. Suárez thought he cleared the carnage in the first turn but a flat tire forced him to pit lane on the final lap of the race dropping him in the standings. Up until the finish, the Trackhouse Chevrolets were two of the fastest cars on the track. Suárez started 11th and moved to sixth in the opening laps. Suárez remained at the front of the field with both drivers choosing to pit before the end of the first and second stages to gain better track position. The NASCAR Cup Series returns to action Sunday at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn. Daniel Suárez, driver of the No. 99 Freeway Insurance Chevrolet Camaro for Trackhouse Racing: “Very disappointing. We got hit from behind on the restart and got a lot of damage. It felt like everyone was wrecking everyone. I hate it because we were going to get a top three finish today. We were pretty good all race and I think we were where we wanted to be in the end.”
