  • Suárez is 24th in the season standings after 24 races.
  • Suárez started a season-best fifth after qualifying Sunday morning.
  • Suárez raced in fifth for most of the first stage before fuel strategy brought him and other leaders to pit lane late in the stage.
  • He repeated that strategy in the second stage, racing in the top-10 before pitting late for fuel
  • Suárez started ninth in the final stage but struggled as the race ran caution-free for 27 laps.
  • Suarez lined up 28th after a caution caused a restart with six laps remaining.
  • As the field raced with five laps to go, the curbing in one of the corners came up causing a massive accident that ended the race for several cars including the No. 99.
  • Suárez was not hurt in the wreck and credited with a 37th-place finish.
  • The NASCAR Cup Series will return to action Sunday, Aug. 22 at Michigan International Speedway. NBCSN will televise Sunday’s race at 3 p.m. EDT.

Daniel Suárez, driver of the No. 99 CommScope Chevrolet Camaro for Trackhouse Racing:

“Somebody had wrecked the lap before, but I was able to go through fine. The next lap I made sure I was on the right line, but I still hit something right in the middle of the racetrack. It was the curb that came apart and just killed our car and wrecked a lot of others.”
