Notes:

  • Trackhouse Racing driver Daniel Suárez finished eighth in Sunday’s 30th annual Brickyard 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
  • The finish came down to tire and fuel strategy through two overtimes with the drivers and teams that best timed their strategy to the cautions prospering.
  • Suárez took a gamble and stayed on the track for the second overtime despite not knowing if he had enough fuel. He did and finished eighth.
  • Both Trackhouse Chevrolets raced in the top-10 on Sunday.
  • Suárez started 25th on Sunday and was mired in traffic in the first stage.
  • Suarez’s team kept adjusting and both began climbing toward the front.
  • Sunday marked the first race on the Indianapolis oval since 2020. The race was held on the 14-turn, 2.439-mile road course for the last three years
  • The Cup Series will take a two-week break before returning to action on Aug. 11 at Richmond (Va.) Raceway.

Daniel Suárez, driver of the No. 99 Freeway Insurance Chevrolet Camaro for Trackhouse Racing:

“The No. 99 Freeway Insurance Chevy team did a great job with the strategy. Our car wasn’t horrible, we just never had the track position that we wanted to, to show the speed of the car. We needed to be faster on the straightaways. But all-in-all, I felt like we had a decent Chevy. Still have some work to do, but the team executed a great strategy, so we will take it.”
