Suárez overcame several challenges that saw him to the rear of the field before driving a car that had no practice laps to the 15th-place finish. Suárez started 36th after a practice crash due to a tire issue kept him out of qualifying. Both Trackhouse Racing cars lost and then regained laps in the opening stage with Suárez finishing 21st. In stage two, Suárez saved a set of faster new tires for later in the race and finished 32nd. The finish marks Suárez’s 14th-top 15 of the 2023 season. The NASCAR Cup Series returns to action Sunday at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway. Only three races remain in the 2023 season. That wreck Saturday put us back and we had to get the backup car ready with no laps of practice. They stayed late last night and came in early this morning. That Tootsie’s Chevrolet didn’t feel like a backup and if we had another 100 miles we would have finished even better. We passed many cars today coming from the back a few times.”
