Races February 20, 2023 Suárez Secures First Top-10 of 2023 in Season-Opening 65th Daytona 500 Date: Feb. 19th, 2023 Event: Daytona 500 Series: NASCAR Cup Series Location: Daytona International Speedway (2.5-mile oval) Format: 200 laps, broken into three stages (60 laps/60 laps/80 laps) Start/Finish: 24th / 7th (Running, completed 212 of 212 laps) Notes: Trackhouse Racing driver Daniel Suárez finished seventh in Sunday’s 65th-annual Daytona 500. Both Trackhouse drivers overcame late accidents and rallied in the two overtimes to log top-10 finishes. Suárez was in 30th a lap down as the field approached the white flag lap in regulation, but a series of cautions sent the race into two overtimes and he regained the lap and climbed to seventh. Suárez started 24th and cautiously raced at the back of the field in Stage 1 to avoid accidents. In the final stage, Suárez’s contact with another car and a spin with 20 laps to go caused him to drop a lap down. The next race is 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, February 26 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif. Daniel Suárez, driver of the No. 99 Tootsie’s Chevrolet Camaro for Trackhouse Racing: “It was a little bit crazy, but I told the team they did a hell of a job. We lacked track position most of the day, and when it mattered the most, we had it. We just spun out there and I was just struggling with loose balance when people would get to the rear bumper for some reason. That one, the 2 came very close to me, very tight and the car behind me came very close as well and got me loose. We recovered and we are getting better at this kind of racing and we are going to get one of these one day.”
