Speedway (.526-mile oval) Format: 400 laps, broken into three stages (80 laps/100 laps/220 laps) Start/Finish: 21st / 22nd (running, completed 414 of 415 laps) Point Standing: 17th with 178 points Notes: Trackhouse Racing driver Daniel Suárez finished 22nd in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. Most of the field struggled to pass on the flat half-mile oval on Sunday in a race that saw only five cautions for 51 laps and included one attempt at overtime. Suárez spent the first two-thirds of the race struggling with throttle and handling problems. Major adjustments at the start of the final stage paid dividends and saw Suárez drive from midpack to lead laps 314-326 as he stretched fuel mileage. A much-needed caution never materialized and he fell off the lead lap in the closing laps. The first stage ran without caution and saw Suárez finish 21st. In the second stage Suárez struggled with throttle issues and finished 21st. The next Cup Series race is on Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. Daniel Suárez, driver of the No. 99 Worldwide Express Chevrolet Camaro for Trackhouse Racing: “That was a difficult day. At times we had a pretty good car and at times we weren’t very good. We struggled with controlling the rear of the car, but we will figure out what happened and be ready for Texas next weekend.”
