Races March 20, 2023 99 Trackhouse Chevy Moves to the Front, But Can’t Compete for Win Date: March 19th, 2023 Event: Ambetter Health 400 (Round 5 of 36) Series: NASCAR Cup Series Location: Atlanta Motor Speedway (1.54-mile oval) Format: 260 laps, broken into three stages (60 laps/100 laps/100 laps) Start/Finish: 25th / 29th (DVP, completed 213 of 260 laps) Point Standing: 10th with 129 points Notes: Trackhouse Racing driver Daniel Suárez finished 29th in Sunday’s 400-mile NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia. After running mid-pack most of the race, the 99 Tootsies Chevrolet moved to the front of the field for the final third of the event. Suárez lined up seventh with 60 laps remaining and it looked like the team’s four-race streak of top-five finishes at the 1.5-mile Georgia oval would continue. Both Trackhouse drivers had dodged damage about 10 laps earlier when leader Kevin Harvick spun at the front of the field collecting 10 cars. That optimism was short-lived because a few laps later Aric Almirola cut a tire triggering another multicar accident. This time it collected Suárez causing enough suspension damage on the No. 99 to end his race leaving him with a 29th-place finish. The Trackhouse Chevrolets raced mid-pack in the early going. In the first stage, Suárez drove from from 25th to ninth. In the second stage, Suárez finished 19th. Sunday’s finish moves Suárez to 10th in the season standings. The next race is 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, March 26 at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Daniel Suárez, driver of the No. 99 Tootsies Chevrolet Camaro for Trackhouse Racing: “We had a pretty good Tootsie’s Chevrolet today. We were good in the draft. I hate that we couldn’t race to the end. It didn’t look like there was much damage, but it was too much for us to continue.”
