Date: October 16th, 2022 Event: South Point 400 (Round 33 of 36) Series: NASCAR Cup Series Location: Las Vegas Motor Speedway (1.5-mile oval) Format: 267 laps, broken into three stages (80 laps/85 laps/102 laps) Start/Finish: 6th / 16th (running, completed 267 of 267 laps) Point Standing: 10th with 2199 points Notes: Trackhouse Racing driver Daniel Suárez finished 16th in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Suárez’s bid for victory ended with 30 laps remaining when he spun as he battled Tyler Reddick for third place. Trackhouse Chevrolets were fast throughout the race with both cars combining to lead 99 of the race’s 267 laps in the race. Suárez lead 31 laps. Sunday marked the seventh of 10 races in the 2022 playoffs and first of three races in the Round of 8. Two races remain in the Round of 8 before the top four remaining drivers will race for the championship in a winner-take-all format at Phoenix Raceway on Nov. 6. Suárez is no longer in playoff contention; however he is now 10th in the standings after Sunday’s race. Suárez started sixth and used an early pit stop in Stage 1 to jump into the lead which he held for 15 laps before finishing third. Suárez and Ross Chastain swapped first and second in the second stage before finishing third and fourth. The next race is Sunday at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway, and the Round of 8 concludes Oct. 31 at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.
