Start/Finish: 22nd / 17th (running, completed 398 of 400 laps)

Point Standing: 24th with 485 points

Notes:

  • Daniel Suárez finished 17th in Saturday night’s 400-mile NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond (Va.) Raceway.
  • Suárez is 24th in the season standings after 28 of 36 races.
  • Suárez started 22nd Saturday and finished 20th in the first stage and 21st in the second, despite suffering a pit road penalty then sent him to the rear of the field for a restart.
  • The No. 99 entered the final stage one lap behind the leader.
  • The chassis changes throughout the race began to pay off with improved handling in the final stage as Suárez raced up to 15th.
  • The long green flag runs in the second half of the race never allowed Suárez an opportunity to return to the lead lap and he finished 17th.
  • The Cup Series will return to action Saturday Sept. 18 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway. NBCSN will televise Sunday’s race at 7:30 p.m. EDT.

“[The race] was okay. We’ve got some work to do. I think we were better than that, towards the end with the speed that we had. We were struggling a lot with the rear of the car. We will keep working to keep getting better.”
